Chuzhao

Type: Miniature Digital TLR (Twin-Lens Reflex)
Waist-Level Digital Nostalgia. The Chuzhao M1 is a love letter to the golden age of film, shrunken down to fit in the palm of your hand. It features a functional waist-level viewfinder; you actually look down into the top of the camera to compose your shot, just like a professional 120mm Rolleiflex from the 50s. It produces square-format images by default, giving everything a curated, medium-format look without the expensive processing fees.
When to Use: For the days when you want to slow down and be intentional. The top-down viewing angle completely changes how you interact with your subjects. It’s perfect for street photography (it’s very stealthy) and for anyone who wants a "digicam" that feels like a piece of art history. Best served with a stroll through an art gallery or a quiet morning at a farmer's market.

Chuzhao
Compose from the hip 🎞️📐
The Chuzhao thrives in Black & White mode. You can toggle the color filter with the front power button. Since the sensor is small, the B&W mode hides digital noise and makes your square shots look like authentic 1950s street photography. Also, use the tripod mount on the bottom! Because you’re looking down into the camera, it’s easy to accidentally tilt the horizon; a tripod or a steady table helps keep those square compositions perfect.
Sensor: 12MP CMOS (1/4-inch sensor)
Photo Format: 1:1 Square Ratio
Lens: Fixed Wide-Angle (Bottom lens is the "taking" lens; top lens is decorative)
Aperture: Fixed at f/4
Focus: Autofocus (AF-A)
The Fact-Check: This is rare for a toy camera! It actually has a working AF system. You can even toggle between AF and Fixed Focus using the front buttons
Viewfinder: 1.54-inch IPS LCD Screen (Top-down "Waist-Level" style)
The Fact-Check: The pop-up hood acts as a perfect sunshade, making the screen easy to see even in direct sunlight.
Key Features: Manual Crank Handle on the side
The Usage: In a genius bit of design, the crank isn't just for show; you use it to scroll through your gallery and to initiate the video recording countdown.
SD Card: Requires a Micro SD card
Max Capacity: Supports up to 64GB
Included: Most retail units ship with a 16GB card, which holds roughly 5,000 square shots
Transfer: High-speed USB-C port
Video Format: 1080p FHD (1920 x 1080)
Aspect Ratio: Video records in standard 16:9 (unlike the square photos)
Audio: No Built-in Microphone
The Fact-Check: This is a silent-movie machine. The Chuzhao does not record audio, making it perfect for cinematic montages or B-roll, but not for vlogging or interviews.
Power: Internal 1000mAh Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery
Charging: USB-C (approx. 2 hours for a full charge)
Battery Life: Approx. 4 hours of continuous shooting
The Logic: Because there's no flash to drain the power, the battery life is surprisingly robust for such a tiny device
