Rebranding a business to focus on pet photography—while keeping the door open for other creative work—is a massive balancing act. If you go too niche with a cute paw print, you get boxed in. If you go too broad, you lose your target audience.
To solve this, I designed five strategic directions to test exactly how her brand should feel. Here is a breakdown of why I made these specific design choices:
The Authority Play (Heavy Sans): Using a bold, contemporary font gives the brand a high-impact statement. This choice works perfectly because it provides the instant authority of a large-scale agency or high-end commercial photography studio.
The Luxury Route (Thin Serif): This sophisticated, timeless serif feels like it belongs on the masthead of a luxury magazine. It's the perfect choice to position the brand as an artisanal, boutique print studio.
The Versatile System (Monolinear + Icon): This intentional, organized layout is the most "designer-y" option. The real strategic win is the boxed "MB" mark, which acts as a versatile secondary asset perfectly built for social media icons or stickers.
The Approachable Vibe (Lowercase Sans): Using clean, effortless lowercase letters creates a very humble and casual identity. This is a great choice because it feels completely approachable and modern without trying too hard.
The Specialist (The Pet Icon): To highlight the "Pet Portrait" specialty, this option uses a charismatic, playful cat icon. The strategy here is balance – the icon adds charm, but keeping the typography heavy maintains a strict professional edge.
Good branding doesn’t force a client into a corner. By showing her a spectrum ranging from a high-fashion boutique to a specialized atelier, we gave her a visual roadmap to scale her business exactly how she wants to.
