My Creative Fuel: 3 Brands That Use Art to Spark Joy and Imagination

I'm constantly looking for creative inspiration in the world around me. While Pinterest tends to fuel most of that, some of the most vibrant and uplifting art comes from unexpected places: the brands I shop and follow. Here are three brands — from fashion to stationery to coloring books — that use art and design in a way that truly ignites my imagination.

Princess Highway: Nostalgia and Storytelling in Print

I adore Princess Highway, an Australian brand that masters vintage-inspired fashion. What truly inspires me about them are their exclusive fabric prints. Each collection isn't just about clothes; it's a piece of illustrated storytelling.

Their dresses, skirts, and blouses often feature whimsical, nature-themed patterns — think stylized toadstools, native Australian flora, or quirky little animals. These designs are a perfect example of how art can create an entire world. When I see one of their pieces, I don't just see a dress; I see a mood, a setting, and a character ready for an adventure. They prove that art doesn't have to be static; it can be wearable, joyful, and deeply nostalgic. Focusing on native flora & fauna, these are incredible, wearable pieces of art.

Pipsticks: The Playful, Tactile World of Stickers

As a stationery lover, the monthly sticker subscription from Pipsticks is a constant source of pure creative delight. Pipsticks doesn't just sell stickers; they curate small, tactile pieces of art that remind you to embrace playfulness and wonder. Every month is curated for a different theme, and they are amazing additions to my scrapbooks and junk journals. With so many designs and fun artwork around, it's hard not to be inspired.

Their stickers span every style imaginable, from bold, abstract graphic designs to meticulously illustrated characters and witty sayings. I'm especially drawn to how they use vibrant colors and unique textures — glitter, puffy vinyl, and holographic foils. They inspire me to think outside the frame, reminding me that inspiration can be found in small, unexpected bursts of color and shine. It's a joyful, unpretentious form of art that reminds me not to take my own work too seriously! And that sparkle ever hurts.

Johanna Basford: Finding Clarity in Intricate Lines

Johanna Basford's coloring books, such as Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, are a testament to the beauty of patience and detail. While coloring books might seem simple, her work is anything but. Her illustrations are a mesmerizing collage of highly detailed, hand-drawn nature scenes.

What I find so inspiring is the meditative quality of her line work. Sometimes, I find it really soothing to just enjoy picking beautiful colors without having to think of something to draw, especially with me being such a perfectionist. Sometimes, the time spent practicing is more important than the outcome.
