Scouted: The Chill-Vibes Photo Op You’re Sleeping On 🍏📸

Every time the weather gets nice or the seasons even think about changing, the internet tries to bully us into these chaotic, overcrowded tourist traps. You know the ones, where you’re fighting three different influencers for a single square inch of weathered wood just to get a shot.

No thanks! My creative anxiety cannot handle it. Honestly, I need good shadows, space to breathe, and a great view. Which brings me to my absolute favorite low-key discovery: Hogan’s Cider Mill in Burlington. If you’re looking for high-stress, fast-paced chaos, you’ve taken a wrong turn. Hogan’s is the ultimate "let’s just hang outside, catch the light hitting the lens, and let the camera do the talking" kind of spot.

The Architecture & The Textures (aka, A Total Mood Board)

As a designer, my brain is constantly scanning for visual texture, and Hogan's absolutely delivers without even trying. The authentic, weathered barn architecture has that perfect rustic patina that makes a digital shot look like film.

Inside, it’s packed with old knick-knacks and vintage details. It’s like stepping into a time capsule that just so happens to serve alcohol.

Outside is where the real magic happens. The open outdoor area is huge and incredibly beautiful. They have multiple bars set up across the grounds, which is literally genius because nobody wants to spend half their afternoon waiting in a line. It’s just designed for you to grab a drink, find a corner, and chill. Plus, they have a mini-golf course tucked off to the side, so if you happen to bring the littles (or just easily distracted adults), they’re totally set while you chase the perfect lighting.

The Drink Strategy

Look, I love a good view, but we all know a bad drink menu can ruin the entire afternoon. Luckily, Hogan’s actually has their strategy together. They aren't just coasting on standard New England cider labels. They have a whole breakdown of hard cider pours, flights, and frozen bevs. Not sure what to get? Here are my picks for Summer 2026:

The Blood Orange Cider Slushie: Okay, so the menu mentions adding fruit purees like orange or strawberry to their classic frozen hard cider base for a couple of bucks extra. GIRL. Do yourself a massive favor and get the blood orange cider slushie combo. It is dangerously good. Sweet, tart, icy, and doesn't taste like straight artificial syrup. I’m literally obsessed.

The Blueberry Pancake Shot: If you want something fun to kick off the afternoon, spend the $5 on this shot. It’s made with local maple syrup, hard cider, and actual blueberries. YUM. It literally tastes like brunch in liquid form and hits the spot perfectly.

The High ABV Flights: If you aren’t a slushie person and want something more traditional, they do 8oz pours, or a flight of four 4oz pours. Heads up: their house ciders like Mackie’s Mulled and Cheeky Chocolate Cherry sit at a casual 12% ABV. They do not play around out here, so pace yourself while you’re walking the grounds.

The Non-Alcoholic Options: If you’re the designated driver or just trying to keep your camera hands steady, they have a Frozen Margarita Mocktail for $9 made with lemon, lime, and agave, so you can still hold a cute cup without the buzz.

The Haul Before You Leave

Before you pack up your camera bag and head home, you have to hit their little market. It’s stocked with local goods, artisan treats, and, most importantly, actual cider you can take home to stock your fridge. Because let’s be real, you’re going to want to try and recreate this vibe in your own kitchen later. Be warned, though, because the whole place smells like their fresh-made apple cider donuts, and they are delicious.

The CT Scouting Report Checklist

The Vibe: Effortless, rustic, deeply relaxing.

Photo Ops: Weathered barn wood, vintage indoor knick-knacks, open fields.

Don't Miss: The frozen apple cider slushies and the local market.

Kid-Friendly? Yes, mini-golf is right on site.

Dog-Friendly? No, have your fur babies stay home for this one.

Hogan's passes the aesthetic check, the texture check, and the low-key weekend vibe check. It’s just a great place to sit outside, look at cool things, and breathe. Have you guys been yet? Let me know if you’ve tried the slushies (and if you’re as addicted as I am).

Stay creative, stay chill.
